hey Lex
G'day from downunder! good to see someone else from the land of oz!
the SR20 engine gained popularity through the Silvia 1991-1992 onwards, then they came out as club Q spec. Soon, the Turbo version came out in the Silvia Ks. The engine stuck to its name and change to blacktop with the arrival of the 200SX followed by the new S15s. Its true that this engine provides amazing power, being a 2.0 and 4 cyl. the 180 is another shining example where the SR20 DET engine was used in the coupes. I really admire the engine. Have you read about some of the cars that are running the engine and simple mod can boost it to 200+rwkw with ease?
what are you driving, btw?

hey arnab
"MATE," the story with the Soarer and Lexus needs a bit more indepth explanation, i think. The Ozzie market has got two different shares in that. The local market where most cars, like Commodores, Fords, Hondas, Toyotas are assembled in their own plants. So, these cars are "local." Now, the jap-imports, like the Nissan Skylines, Supras, Soarers are the ones the ozzie brokers wud bid for in a japanese auction, buy them for cheap, send it over to private importers who wud later on sell them by having to pay for compliance, tax and related paperwork. So, at the end of the day, u shud be able to grab a Skyline R33 GTS-T for lets say, about 15000 $ sometimes more and at times for less. Depending on the mileage, the condition of the car etc, a price is set. Some people even import the cars themselves. the governemtn has recently cancelled the 15-year old rule which wud stop all these imports, so the price of these supa-sexy japanese sports car is expected to go up.
The Soarer which I had (sold it yesterday , darn) is the same as a Lexus SC400, i think its called in the States and Toyota Soarer in Japan. Same as the Windom and ES300 saga. The Japanese versions came either as V8s and 2.5lt Twin Turbo, the one that I had. only a limited number of them with Lexus plates on them have been imported which are mainly the America-bound V8s and 3.0lt straight sixes.
I wud think the same silvia CA18 and SR20 was exported to Europe, with exception of the japanese Right hand seatin replaced with the left-hand factory set-up.
I hope I am right! :blue_rolleyes:
