eversince i lost my integra and switched to an allion ive developed a phobia from corrolas i got beat by this kitted EE100 real bad ... maybe its cus i cant drive too well in an automatic but the distance kept getting bigger and bigger... and i got beat my a frikkin XLi as well i dont know whats wrong with my allion or its maybe cos i dont know how to get the quickest acceleration in an auto shift :'(
when starting keep it a 1st gear, press the brakes real hard and keep the rpm at 4000, or 3000 when the race starts let go of the brake very very quick. Practice and see the rpm to keep so that the front wheel makes the minimum spin/slip when you let go of the brakes

mates... my mark2 is auto and i race wid it a lot.... 2 drive ur car well u've 2 know it well.... while drag racing always put ur car in L and hold the brake and accelerator together and let go of the brakes as fast as u cant.... u'll see the most rev u can do in this situation is 4000rpm coz of the car's ECU (as in my car)....
always release the brake 1 sec b4 than manual coz it takes dat time for the power 2 get 2 ur wheels.... if done correctly u'll launch almost similar 2 manual...
good luck!

heheh thanks for the tip nirous... but is there something im missing ... maybe its keeping the revs within the power band of the engine... the DOHC VTEC was a high revving engine and the higher it revved the power it got as a result accelerated faster, im not so sure about the allion the redline is at 6K but it seems to get most of its power between 4 to 5K ... am i making sense? but its just that it feels that way... should i be flooring it to get the most accelaration out of an Auto Allion.. or do i have to fiddle with the accelerator a bit... im getting frustrated being smoke in a straight line drag with the older gen corollas :( ... i can catch up but should'nt i be faster off the start... btw the corolla i got smoked by was a manual tranny... lol

man i get ur frustration, but u have 2 accept that manuals launch faster than autos.... but to get the most out of any auto (in theory) you should floor it coz dat gets u to the higher powerband quicker (unless ur tires loose grip and u get a lot of wheel spin and no go)....Vicky wrote:heheh thanks for the tip nirous... but is there something im missing ... maybe its keeping the revs within the power band of the engine... the DOHC VTEC was a high revving engine and the higher it revved the power it got as a result accelerated faster, im not so sure about the allion the redline is at 6K but it seems to get most of its power between 4 to 5K ... am i making sense? but its just that it feels that way... should i be flooring it to get the most accelaration out of an Auto Allion.. or do i have to fiddle with the accelerator a bit... im getting frustrated being smoke in a straight line drag with the older gen corollas :( ... i can catch up but should'nt i be faster off the start... btw the corolla i got smoked by was a manual tranny... lol
personally i find it helpful to hold both pedals together (floor them) and let brake pedal go fast and loosen the accelerator a lil bit so that therez minimul wheel spin and then floor it all the way again....
get an aftermarket cold air intake (tk.2500) and a branded exhaust (tk.4000), this will give u additional power of 15-25hp and a bad ass roar at the back, which will help mostly in the higher revs but also in the lower range rpms.
Its also a good idea to open ur positive battery terminal for 5 mins - this will reset the ECU and it will forget all ur driving behaviour and will drive "rough".... usually u'll get an overall faster launch....
u can fiddle a bit wid these tips and see what works for u the most, worth a shot!
