Celica engine replacement

Post by wazz_dhaka »

It possible to put a engine Mark II/Chaser which 2000cc V6 or the ones called Beams 2000 in a Celica(2001-2003) and how much will it cost to buy that engine separately? Many people told me that those engines are too big to fit inside a Celica but I still have a doubt.

well it all depends on how much trouble u are willing go through... u prabably have to cut up the engine bay to fit in the engine and transmittion which i mite point out is... a rear wheel drive.
You'll have to find a front wheel transmittion that mite fit the 1G-FE.
If you want more performance trying looking into the 3SGE... or the Celica GTS gear box and engine.

i know for a fact that Mark II V6 engines wont fit celicas directly. The mounting points in the engine are not the same. u'll have to modify the car in order to make it fit... and thatz where bd mechanics tend to go wrong.... if its not properly mounted.... ur car will not get the maximum power or the engine might actually fall offf.... lolz...

i know coz I have a Mark II and going for a 1JZ-GTE turbo engine swap .

you might wanna look at 3S-GTE engines.... SUPERCHARGE ur existing engine.... it will cost abt the same if not less and will have more chances of working at the end of the day.

now the cost issue.... you can only bring an engine from Japan which is not more than 3 yrs old. and trust me.... finding the right engine will take a lotta work (took me abt 4 months) and the biggest problem is the insecurity that whether it will fit ur car at the end of the day!!!

My 1JZ-GTE 280hp engine with auto trans, ECU, wiring harness & bodykit for my Mark II is costing me around US$3000+. So if ure up for it.... go ahead!!!

Good luck....

nitrousFiz... questions are mainly for you... hope you've already put in the 1JZ-GTE in your MkII, cause thats the cheapest & simplest modifications i could think of doing for myself... haven't got a car yet, but i can't think of a better buy than a MkII.

anyways, another car i was thinking about, although a lot more expensive, is the MRS. put in the 4A-GE or the 2ZZ-GE. anyone already done that yet by any chance?

prolly will buy a car in a year or so. i'd mainly require a rwd, manual trans, good suspension, etc. cant think of any other car in this price range which is reliable and can be easily modified. any suggestions?

1st up those celica r buggers to work on!

you best bet would be to search for a 3S-GTE out of a ST205 celica. but even then lots of fabrication needs to be done.

cuztom engine mounts and gearbox as the stock celica box wouldnt be able2 handle that sort of torque.

also forget about using any other rear wheel drive as it will cost EVEN more just to fabricate to run it as FWd.

In my opinion get soem TRD extractors 421 design. fet TRD or K&N panel box air filter. full 2.25inch exhaust extractor back with hi-flow cat.

that will be enouhg to produce around 15-20kw.

u dont wana go down the 4AGE road.
those engines were sololy designed for light weight corollas and levins and it suits its chassie better.

Celicas are havier car and they need torque behind it get it moving.

stick to celica model engines and 4 cylinders.

Hi flow cat usually adds another 2/3kw if used in a non turbo applications. So its up to you if u want to spend the money to gain 2/3kw.

extra 2/3 kw as in power by having a high flow cat installed.

as for ECU if you dont have access to DYNO then dont bother about aftermarket management systems.

Just get the factory ECU out of the car as well as the fuel pump and that should do the trick.

By the way what do you mean by 80? as is ke80 corolla?

sakin please dont hijack threads.. open one up for the ae80 if you have to. I was in dholikhal couple of days back, saw BT/ST ecu's there. Murshed also has a spare one lying around see if you can pursuade him to sell it to you, take his # from fahim.

Ps. get off the BT bandwagon. you can get the same performance from a ST just swap the throttle body with that of an BT and run it with a BT ecu. note: slight modification to the head clearance has to be done. Its an easy enough job tho. if you can find the right mech to do it for you and u'd be saving armloads in the process.
