Full info:
Release Date: June 16th, 2006 (wide)
Release Date Note: (2/20/05) At one point (early 2004), Universal was loosely aiming for a possible summer, 2005 release, which obviously isn't going to happen now. (3/15/06) The film will be released on June 16th, 2006.
Title Note: (4/14/04) In the tradition of 2 Fast 2 Furious, it's extremely likely that Universal will go with a gimmicky title like '3 Fast 3 Furious' (or maybe 'Fast, Faster, Fastest' or 'Fast, Furious, Finale'? :). As of right now, however, this movie will just be listed as 'The Fast and the Furious 3' until some indication of the final title is announced. (3/15/06) The title is now 'The Fast and the Furious: Toyko Drift.'
Distributor: Universal Pictures
Cast: Lucas Black (Sean Boswell), Shad 'Bow Wow' Gregory Moss (Twinkie), Nathalie Kelley (Neela), Sung Kang (Han), Brian Tee, Jason Tobin, Brian Goodman, Leonardo Nam, Keiko Kitagawa
Cast Notes: (4/14/04) In the same way that the second movie followed Paul Walker's character after the events of the first movie, this third film will pick up on Vin Diesel's character from the same starting point (and so, likewise, Paul Walker's character won't be in this third movie just like how Vin Diesel's character wasn't in the second). (3/15/06) Neither Vin Diesel nor his character appears in the third film.
Director: Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow)
Director Notes: (4/14/04) There's no word about what director might sign on for this third in the series. John Singleton directed the second movie after Rob Cohen, the director of the first, refused to direct if Vin Diesel wasn't going to star. It's unknown if Vin Diesel's possible involvement in the third movie would attract Rob Cohen to return, but "Variety" reported on March 8th, 2004 that at that point, Cohen had not yet been approached about directing.
Premise: After being allowed to get away by his new undercover cop friend in the first movie, fast-driving criminal Dominic Torretto (Diesel) heads down to Mexico where he lives a life as a fugitive, always just 10 seconds ahead of the law. Eventually, however, Torretto makes his way to Tokyo, Japan, which is the world's current capitol of street racing, where he is recruited to help bail out a friend who is in trouble with a powerful group of Japanese gangsters.
Genre: Action, Eye Candy, Sequel, Sports
Status: In Development
