finally got some info on vehicle taxes last night.
some of you already know this.
just want to write it down here for reference.
Tax Rate for brand new non-SUVs and reconditioned or brand new SUVs:
0 to 1649 CC - 104%
1650 to 3049 CC - 148%
3050 CC and Above - 199%
Non-SUVs (sedans, coupes, hatchbacks, etc) need to be certified brand new.
SUVs do not need to be certified brand new.
MP Permits work on SUVs only.
Cars under 1650cc can be brought in reconditioned.
Recon Vehicles Get Depreciation up to 45% . Brand New Vehicle duty is based on invoice price as accepted by PSI company.
If there's anything else to add, please do so. If I've made any mistakes, please feel free to correct them. Thanks.

Saw something in the news that the Govt last year proposed increasing depreciated value from 15% to 20% per year - making it slighter cheaper to import recons. Did this actually happen?
Also do the recons have to come from their county of origin eg. Japan or is another 3rd country OK?
Regards
Polash

GTI pls lock this topic until budget is finalized on June 28th . so far this is the scenario
0-1649 cc 92% (duty reduced)
1650 cc to 3050 cc 170% (went up)
3051 cc and above 560% WENT UP QUITE A BIT, I will let you know whats the official situation .
All previous rules stay, not more than 4 years old vehicle, no third country import only 1600 cc allowed for recon cars . Duty of Microbus in some cases increased to 102% from previously 52%. Pick up trucks and construction vehicles face similar hike.
