24 hours testing Jaguar XJ 2.7 d V6

Post by Abdul »

A few months ago my parents and me went to the launch in Belgium of the all new XK .The car is properly designed sure , engine is great , interior leather is high quality but therte are too much plastic of low quality everywhere , that's not good compared to the SL.And in that showroom there was a XJ 2.7 d my dad was interested about it.So a amonth after we got by post a test drive of 24 hours with the Jaguar XJ 2.7 d , We filed it up and last week people from Jaguar Belgium came to bring the car in front the house. It is a Jaguar XJ 2.7 d (made from the association between Ford and PSA Peugoet-Citroen ).The engine is a 2.7 liters V6 biturbo 3rd or 2nd gen of commonrail system

power : 207 hp @ 400rpm
torque : 435 Nm@ 1900rpm
displacement : 2722 cc
24 valves twin turbo
60° BETWEEN THE 2 LINES OF CYLINDER

performances

0 to 100km/h : 8.1 s
Vmax 225 km/h

The car we got was a Sovereign version with multimedia equipement at the rear , 2 lcd screens , dvd player , TV front and rear , heated F and R seats , 18 ways electrical seat from the driver , Alpine sound system 320watt , Nav system , Jaguar Voice , 6Cd charger , park assist , sunroof.

The car has got a real class , the presence is not massive like the 7 series does or the RR Phantom , trhere is a presence because of the grace of the car itself , the details like the LED rear lamps in J shape , the grill and and headlamps , the style might look old but it hides a lot of modern features like Aluminium body and chassis , air suspension , ......

Of course about tech it doesn't beat the S class but the Jag has got charm if you buy that you will be different from those people who have the S Class.

On road

When you start engine there are no vibration inside only a little noise, the car is very silent till 3000 rpm even with sunroof open. The Jag is very easy to drive , steering is light but give information. The suspension does its job very well you don't feel how the road is.quality and assembling are high more wood than in the S class .To overtake anything on road it is easy because you get enough torque to do it , gearbox 6 speed ZF is very smooth and the engine too.I have driven the car at night really you don't think that you are driving a 5.10 m car.Brakes are strong and don't become weak after 3 or 4 hard brakes much better than BMW cars.

Interior

The best thing is the touch screen system which is much easier to use than the I Drive by BMW.There is plenty of wood on the dashboard , steeringwheel too and doors.leather is better than on the 5 series from my dad.The interior is 100 % a Jag.

My dad believe the car is too long for the street we are leaving but the rest of it good , the engine and gearbox is very smooth .But I have seen on autoexpress there is the new S Type cvoming this year or begin next year.I is interested about that car now with diesel engine.
Really the Jaguar XJ 2.7d has the same the Citroen C6 2.7 HDI that we have tested at Brussels motorshow begin this year , the Jag is sportier than the Citroen (FF).

My dad prefers the S Class Diesel 320 CDI.
