i don't understand why you guys are blamming stig for the crash. this is his secound time, after all the cars he had driven in that same track. the CCX he crashed had a problem. it had no spoiler so the back wheels spinned. and i am sure there is a very good explanation for crashing the LP640. until we see the footage, we shouldn't be blamming anyone. Pro drivers don't make mistakes that often, speacially twice on the same track. they have no fear, that's why they are pro. so please stop blamming stig, lets just wait for the footage and then we can make our judgement.
Neil, the spoiler on the CCX isn't an excuse for the crash.......Stig crashed the CCX because he was too desperate to make a new lap record. CCX don't come with a stock spoiler.......so it's not like Stig had the crash cause a spoiler was missing on the CCX..... He had a lap run that was slower than the Zonda F's laptime; then he got too desperate to make a new lap record and crashed the car on the 2nd attempt. Yeah, obviously an added spoiler put more downforce on the car and made it a better handling car, but he shouldn't have gone that fast around that corner....he should have known that the car couldn't make that corner in such speed, since he is an expert professional.

I know zoheb and I agree with you 100% that stig was desperate to break the Zonda F's lap record. I have the Top Gear season 8 DVD and I have seen it couple of times. Beside his desperateness, I strongly believe that the rear spoiler was a major issue for wrecking that car. Because, when Clarkson drove that car before stig, he also mentioned about the spoiler and not having a traction control. After the spoiler the car became 7 seconds faster. For a lap record that's a major turnover. No disrespect to you zoheb or any of the members, but I believe judging stig is foolish for us. We are not pro drivers, we never drove any exotics on the same track like he did and we are really not in a position to judge him at all. But it's just my prospective. im done here.
Here's Clarkson's review.

Koenigsegg didn't have a spoiler for the CCX as a stock.........I don't know if they are going to put spoilers on all the CCX produced from now on, since it gives the car a better lap time.......but if u blame the spoiler for the crash, then I believe it is possible for every regular driver to crash that car, since Stig as a pro crashed the car for a missing spoiler.........that means the engineering behind the CCX is really bad.....right?
a missing spoiler can cause a car to have a slower lap time, but it is not a reason for a crash.........a missing spoiler can cause a car to not go around the corner as fast, but crashing the car during a cornering is totally upto the driver....u r absolutely right........Stig is a pro, and he knows better than us......so he should have known that the car cannot make that turn in that speed........thats all I'm trying to say here.

Agreed once again zoheb. I am not saying the engineering of CCX is bad. But, a super car like CCX should have a spoiler for the down force of the back wheels. Now a carbon-fibre rear wing is available as Optional Equipment in CCX. And about stig, he broke the lap record of Zonda F by 7 seconds. He’s time was 1:17 seconds in CCX. But, back in 2005 Top Gear, he set up a track record of 1:7 seconds in an Aston Martin DBR9. But by the track rule of Top Gear, you can't buy that car, so they never put the time on the list. So, my point is, if he can handle that DBR9 in the same corners and be 10 seconds faster then the CCX without a crash on the same track, then I don't see it's his fault for crashing the CCX.
You and I can go on about this discussion all day, but won't come to a solution. Because both you and I have our own prospective views and points. I apologies for the off topic admins. no more from me.
Cheers.

correction.........CCX beat Zonda F's time by 0.8 secs.........not 7 secs. his time on CCX was 1:17.6.........and 1:18.4 with Zonda F.
I see your point of view on the crash.......but it doesn't work thay way my friend. just because someone doesn't crash on a better car doesn't mean he has no fault in crashing an inferior car.
F1 cars are better handling and faster than any road going or track car.......and the F1 drivers are better than Stig, yet they crash........I've seen Schumacher crash too......and he is the best damn track driver in the world......yeah, its not always the driver's fault for F1 crashes... somethimes the cars malfunction and cause crash.......but u'll see several F1 drivers going off the track because of their own fault..........thats all i'm saying.
this arguement reminds me of this quote "To Err is Human"...........Stig is not perfect. he can make mistake like u and me too.....So it is possible for him to crash. u can't just say he had no fault in crashing the car.
