yes should be lowered in height as original spec, with a button so that it can go even lower even when driving it. better body kits, make it atleast look like it has 550-600hp and not like a turbo, exclusive colours only - must not come in standard colours at all. fatter steering wheels, eclusive staggered wheels, come on my x5 has a 315 tire at the back. what else, deeper sexier exhaust note.raised hood, like the m3.

yeap u r right. some ppl are just stupid enough to spend 115 grand for a SUV. its rather better to spend it on a car. u get way better performance.

Hi

A few points on this thread caught my attention. Firstly, regarding how many Imprezas there are in BD - I have seen only one on the Dhaka streets - mine. It's dark blue with gold wheels. I would be glad to meet any other Impreza owners.

Secondly, the horespower of modified turbo cars is difficult to prove unless it's tested on an engine or chassis dyno, or even proven on the street with timed 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile or some other measure. Furthermore, turbocharged cars are very sensitive to the fuel quality. So if you put low octane fuel in your tank chances are the engine will be knocking - which is detected by the knock sensor and the ecu then retards the ignition timing to save the engine from damage - which lowers turbo boost and therefore the engine makes less power than it was supposed to. This is all the more so in case of Japanese imports which are tuned on 100 RON octane. The fuel in Bangladesh is probably 96 RON (if unadulterated with kerosene), but maybe someone else could enlighten us further on this as I am not sure.

Thirdly, big horsepower figures sound great, but a very important factor in on-road performance is the power to weight ratio. So, someone can have a 500 bhp truck that weighs 3 tons (for argument's sake), but then could be overtaken by a car that has (only) 200 bhp and weighs just a ton.

There is a 97/98 Impreza in ctg. heard it has 430 hp.....not sure if it really has that much power. u should get in touch with this other user Samar_aka_Bingali.....he knows more abt the car cause his friend/elder bro owns that.

here are some pics of that car from the DTD gallery.....

Thanks for that post on the ctg Impreza, Zoheb. It's difficult to prove horsewpower on modified cars in Bangladesh as I have not heard of any chassis dynamometers in the country. Regarding stock cars like the M3 and Cayenne turbo, we can look up performance figures from car magazines. Though, in those tests you have expert drivers coaxing the very best times on grippy race tracks - so the on-road figures for an average driver are bound to be a bit slower.

However, I do have an idea that might prove to be fun and add a new dimension to steet racing in BD. That is, a back-seat passenger can time a car with a stopwatch to check in-gear acceleration times. For the regular cars we can check the time taken for the car to accelerate from, say, 40 kmh on the speedo to 100 or 120 kmh. For the larger engined cars - V8, turbo and GT spec we can check the 40 kmh to 160 or 180 kmh.

If members post in their times we can eventually compile a list of the fastest accelerating cars in BD, or even compare similar cars - like carina GT with starlet turbo, etc. The advantage of in-gear timing is that this is a real world situation, unlike drag racing off the line where you need perfect conditions - like a clear road ahead and to your sides. For in-gear timing, you can just cruise at 40 kmh for a while then nail the throttle when you get a clear stretch ahead. Also, in a drag race its difficult to get a perfect launch, and then if you rev the engine off the line and slip the clutch, you risk frying your clutch or breaking the gearbox.

We could also check who has the fastest cars - Dhaka or Chittagong - remember the claimed 430 bhp Impreza and 450 bhp dodge ? However, in the case anyone claims a scarcely believable figure, maybe an administrator of this website would be kind enough to check and verify the figures as a back-seat passenger with the stopwatch. So, such a verified time could be called "official" and those times posted-in would be "unofficial" . Furthermore, this would be a lot safer and responsible than racing other cars while zig zagging through slower traffic on a busy day !

It won't be perfect and the passenger will add weight and make the car a little slower. But, it should be both fun and informative, given the lack of a race track and professional timing gear in BD.

Tell me what you guys think !
