Normally would the IPOD connection wire (to the CD/MP3 tuner of your car) be different from other MP3 players such as the creative zen, i river etc?

there`s no requirement for an ipod in ur system if ur getting that particular sony head unit since that already supports .m4a extension...
this reduces the size of the files and u can have a lot more songs in the burnt CD..
plus if u still intened to get an ipod get the head unit as well..
and go chek apple.com for this:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/W ... .1.0?44,64
for a FM TRANSMITTER...
its the age for the wireless... so forget about wires that creates clogging..
plus its cheap and very efficient.
plus u`ll get STEREO FM format sound quality and ur amps will boost the sound anyways....
and its gonna be easy for u to just pick up ur ipod and leave ur car, u dont even need to detach it...

hmm

you can charge your ipod though the ipod car charging kit.
the FM transmitter sometimes picks up conversations of walkie talkie, for example 2 way police conversations.

I already posted a link along with the pic of the transmitter.
it retails at $40
go to the apple store website, under iPod accessories click on Car Audio and you`ll get related product infos.

The things that I like are out of my current budget so I can't buy it next week. I need to save a bit more. This audio system will cost $1,300 plus according to one guy plus $200+ installation.
