With all this talk about high speeds on public roads, I feel I must add a word of caution. For all those (including me) who like to stretch their car to the limits, I would strongly recommend that the braking systems are upgraded. At the very least regular racers should use "fast road" brake pads, if not "race" ones. Normal road pads will "fade" under stress, that is, with every hard press of the brake pedal the braking distance will continually increase. The more the heat, the less the braking effectiveness. So, it might happen that you misjudge the braking distance and get too close or even hit, the car ahead. Road pads can overheat very quickly and could lead to complete brake failure - I know, because it happened to me once. It's a very frightening experience if you find you have no brakes when approaching a roundabout at 160 km/h !

Race pads, on the other hand, will only work effectively at high heat, so when you drive the car from cold, initially, the brakes will be very weak. So, "fast road" pads fall in-between. "Fast Road" brake pads are adequate when cold, but will take a lot more heat than normal road pads. Also, it is important to look at the brands and not buy just any brake pads from Bangla Motor or third party. Try to source from AP Racing, Mintex, EBC (UK) or TRD (Toyota), Mugen (Honda), Nismo (Nissan),Endless or Apexi (Japan)

I was referring to brands of "fast road" brake pads for the more common cars. Braking Systems on the other hand are very expensive - especially those of (Italian) Brembo or Tarox, not to mention that they are not available for most of the Japanese domestic model cars in BD. Also, I doubt most owners of road cars in Dhaka would be willing to fork out amounts that could cost between US$2000 and US$5000, or even more for complete ceramic brake discs. My own set of KAD (UK) 6 piston brakes and 15 inch discs cost US$ 3500 plus freight and tax in Dhaka to clear.

Such expense is really not justified for cars that are not heavily performance oriented. BTW, did you know that many EVO owners in UK usually ditch their original sets of Brembo discs for AP Racing because they get warped easily ?!!

ahh.......i get ur point........but i thought Brembo makes Brake pads as well. and they are not that expensive........u can prolly get them for $100....but yeah, they won't fit most of the cars in BD......except for Civics, Integras, Accords, and Camrys.

and no......i didn't know abt uk evo owners ditching brembo discs. :?

alright........no more :offtopic: discussion.........open a new thread on brakes if u want to talk abt them.
