My Accord vs Miata/MX-5 vs Pontiac Grand Prix vs 911 Turbo

Ok, I've promised abt telling this Porsche racing story in this other racing story topic/thread of mine......so here goes the interesting story of getting smoked by a 911 turbo.

This race took place abt 1.5 years ago....I was driving in moderate speed on this street which had 55 mph(88.5 kph) speed limit. At one point, I saw this light a lil far away, which was turning red....and i was on the left lane of the road. (it was a 3 lane street). then i saw on the left lane there is a 94/95 Mazda Miata, on the right lane was a 02-03 Pontiac Grand Prix, and on the middle, there was the 02/03 Porsche 911 Turbo. So I quickly changed my lane and moved to the middle lane thinking that the 911 turbo would go faster as soon as the lights get green. the miata guy was in his late 20s, the Grand prix guy looked in his mid 30s, and the Porsche guy looked over 40. I was the youngest one. So, anyways, we were all waiting for the green light. As soon as it turned green, the Miata and Grand prix started with fast acceleration......and the 911 turbo guy started kinda slow.....and i was behind him so i couldn't start as fast as i wanted (there were other cars in my both sides, so i couldn't change the lane either)....so i was like tail gating him....so that he moves faster.....at that time, we were abt at 35-40 mph(56.3-64.3 kph)....Then the Porsche guy prolly got angry as i was being a pain in his back :lol: and he shifts to the 2nd........and there starts his acceleration.....mine is an auto and i was like driving in manual style by putting the gear at 1, then 2, then D3 and so on........I pushed my gas pedal hard all the way down and was reving at 6500 rpm; the only thing i see is the 911 turbo flying like a jet plane.......it was gaining distance constantly......in seconds it overtook the Grand prix and Miata which started with a fast acceleration. I was like "dayemn! that thing hauls ass big time"....By the time I reached 65 mph (104.5 kph) he was prolly going over 100 mph (162 kph) I still kept accelerating and went upto like 100 mph and over took the Grand prix and Miata who were scared to go at such speed.....prolly cause of the fear of the cops......but i didn't care, i pulled as much as i could.....when i reached 100 mph, i figured out there is no way to get the 911 turbo.....he was way far ahead of me.....i couldn't even see him properly.....and yeap, that was a straight road....so just think how far he had already gone......he prolly went in abt 130 mph(210 kph) or something like that........so i just slowed down.

man! thats the most biggest smoke I ever got from someone......well, all of us (Miata, Grand Prix, and Myself) knew very well that we don't stand any chance infront of the 911 Turbo.......but we still tried to mess around with him......and got smoked big time. well, i wasn't even planning to race him or something. I was just trying to make that guy angry by driving fast thinking that he would pull fast then, and i'll get to see how fast the 911 turbo actually is. man! believe me.......that is one hell of a fast car. it just looked like a jet plane beside our cars when it was zooming.......it was just gone out of our site in seconds......it just destroyed us. :lol:

so anyways.......that was the story.....hope u guys enjoyed it.

yeah that was a nice and detailed story, glad you shared it with us. I was at a signal, me in the 740iL and my friends blue porsche 911 tt, anyways i had the sport mode on and pressed the accelerator real hard with the pdc switchd off, so there was some wheel spin. porsche doesnt launch that fast because it is an all wheel drive. so initially you have an edge. anyways i was happy for a sec or two and he just killed me as if i was just standing. it has awesome power. youre right. he was probably going way faster than 100mph when you hit 65mph, in my opinion. unless he let go of his acceleration.

Nice story bro......I got smocked by a 00' corvette and 01' viper.....kinda like u i was in the middle lane with my Galant and those 2 guys were in my right and left...as soon as the light turns green....we all started boosting and i was no match with thoes 2 dude's as they raced eachother and corvette became a winner. As i stopped with them on the next stop light the corvette guy kinda laughing @ me. well at least i saw 2 supercars raced eachother in the middle of city limit.

forget abt my accord........even my Audi A8L with 335 hp is no match with the 911 Turbo when it comes to racing. ask anyone.......they'll laugh at u. :blue_lol; :blue_lol; :blue_lol;

and abt that trick from the fast and the furious, like pulling up ur front wheels........ur driver is screwing with u and messing up ur mind with all those idiotic infos. that trick is not possible with any regular car. I'm not much of a mechanical/technical guy, but even I can say that u need a RWD car with atleast 600-700 lb-ft of torque in ur rear wheels to pull off that trick.(or may be even a lot more).... and incase u didn't know what 600-700 lb-ft of torque means.....let me give u an idea. The McLaren F1 has 479 lb-ft of torque, Ferrari Enzo has 485 lb-ft, Lamborghini Murcielago has 480 lb-ft, and ur favorite car Nissan 350Z has 274 lb-ft of torque...

So, i guess now u get the idea what 600-700 lb-ft of torque means.....and u get the fact that the trick in the movie fast in the furious is not possible with any car........there is no way u can do that trick with an AWD or FWD car. and most of the cars in BD are FWD.......so u can't do it with any car as ur driver claims. and u can't also do that trick with the RWD cars in BD.........cause there is no RWD car in BD which has 600-700 lb-ft of torque or more.

thanx zoheb bhai.....i do kno what u mean about those hp and everythin.... the thing is the difference between the streets in there adn the streets in here.........if u wud have given the best driver in bd to drive that car and ne normal driver in here to drive the PORSCHE ur accord wud hav won.......the difference between u auto_freak is that u take the ideas round the world and i take it as only from bd..and zoheb bhai the only thing i dont get was the torque system.....but i bet i kno u guys will really laugh at me........but its true my driver can make those front 2 wheels in the air......cuz he told me that it has to be a brand new car and it has to be manual and a car with more than 1000 cc ....he told me that he need sto go to garage and fix sumthin in da car...........to make it go...........but zoheb bhaiwhat is lb-ft torque let me kno.........

Torque is a force that tends to rotate or turn things. You generate a torque any time you apply a force using a wrench. Tightening the lug nuts on your wheels is a good example. When you use a wrench, you apply a force to the handle. This force creates a torque on the lug nut, which tends to turn the lug nut.

English units of torque are pound-inches(lb-in) or pound-feet(lb-ft); the SI unit is the Newton-meter(Nm). Notice that the torque units contain a distance and a force. To calculate the torque, you just multiply the force by the distance from the center. In the case of the lug nuts, if the wrench is a foot long, and you put 200 pounds of force on it, you are generating 200 pound-feet(lb-ft) of torque. If you use a 2-foot wrench, you only need to put 100 pounds of force on it to generate the same torque.

So, I hope u get what torque means........the more torque u'll have in ur car the faster ur wheels are gonna spin, and the faster ur rear wheels spin, the more chance u'll have for ur car to pull up the front in air, like in the movie fast and the furious. this trick is called "wheelie" and for wheelie, u need ur rear wheels to spin very fast........and FWD cars' rear wheels don't spin.....its the front wheels. So, there is no way u can do a wheelie with an FWD car....and most of the cars in Bangladesh are FWD.......and the RWD cars, u can do a wheelie with them, only if u have a whole lot of torque in ur engine, which helps ur rear wheels to spin really fast and make ur front go up in the air......

haven't u seen motorcycles doing wheelies in movies and motorcycle races....if u have, then u'll notice that when they do it, they run on their rear wheel and the front wheel stays on air. if the bikes were FWDs, then ppl wouldn't be able to do wheelies with their bikes running on rear wheels.

So, there is no way u can do wheelie with a FWD or AWD car........u can do it with a RWD car but will require a lot of torque. And No car in Bangladesh has so much torque to do a wheelie.
