These kind of topics are being discussed in other forums. I thought that this was kind of important. So what I need to know is what do you guys do. Everyday in the morning when I start the car I let it idle till the oil temp is in the normal side. Some guys just start the car and drive. What are the pros and cons of doing either one of them.

you are supposed to start the car and let it idle for about 5 mins till the choke for cold engine idle cuts off. this helps in circulating and lubricating the engine oil which sits in the chamber. a cold start will increase engine wear and eventually wear out pistons and other moving parts in the engine which need lubrication. i try and always idle for 3-5 mins at the first start of the day. revving a cold engine does maximum damage so avoid at all costs!
yeah thats very much similar to what i do.asad wrote:you are supposed to start the car and let it idle for about 5 mins till the choke for cold engine idle cuts off. this helps in circulating and lubricating the engine oil which sits in the chamber. a cold start will increase engine wear and eventually wear out pistons and other moving parts in the engine which need lubrication. i try and always idle for 3-5 mins at the first start of the day. revving a cold engine does maximum damage so avoid at all costs!
