Hey Guys,

I am currently in London... I'll return to Dhaka this June after a year... I wanted to take some performance upgrades for my toyota mark-II 98 model.... so far I have installed a cold air intake and an ecu mod to change the air to fuel ratio.... I already got a sound adjustable performance exhaust and am thinking of getting a supercharger....

Any one have any kool ideas of to tune my car to the max?

Also do any of you know the rates of 19 inch chrome alloy wheels in dhaka? I heard there are some shops in bijaynagar who give reasonable rates when u bargain.... but never got around going there last year.

Anyway, any help on mods or rims will be much appreciated....

chek out da bijoynogor stores they have some gud stuff there

I don't think the Bijoynogor stores have 19in rims - 18in is probably the highest. I have also only seen max 18in tyres in the tyre stores, so there is no point in importing 19in wheels if you do not have a backup of 19in tyres.

Regarding upping the power and adding a supercharger, these mods may render the car unreliable as a daily driver, not to mention that the tuning has to be expertly done to even enjoy the benefits of the mods and to make the car driveable and tractable in traffic. So, beware !

Great Advice WRX regarding upping the power. About the tyres,19" tyres are very expensive as well. Not worth it IMHO to buy 19"with our road condition.One pot hole and you'll be left with a dented wheel.Got 2 sets of 19" (potenza RE pole position series)around $1500 purchase price (without shipping and tax) for 4 tyres. Not worth it.

Thanks for the advice on the power upgrade mate. Too bad there aint any good place to get the car tuned in Dhaka.

Regarding the rims.... I use this car very selectively (not ur usual daily driver)...

Anyway.... I heard R-Style in Tejgaon has some good rims up for sale, does anybody know the exact prices???

NitrousFiz, if you are very serious about power tuning and are willing to put up the funds, then I can suggest you look into the 2.5lt turbocharged mark2 that is sold in Japan. It's the same car, but with a different engine that makes about 280 bhp. You could look into getting a used engine and set-up with the help of a Japanese tuning house that works on Toyotas. Sorry, I can't help with any names, so it could involve a trip to Japan, unless you know someone there
who can help you with the sourcing. Japanese tuning mags also have a lot of info - there's OPTION, OPTION 2, TUNING CAR MAGAZINE, CARBOY, etc. but, again, you will need the help of someone in Japan.

Thanks for the info wrx. I am not looking towards an engine swap, but more inclined towards adding wats available close by.....lolz.... I am pretty much happy with the stock 2 litre non-turbo engine, just wanted to add watever possible to it.... i think hope u get the picture....

Sorry, I have to say that is a bad advice. Even if he has the money to spend on such a setup, he'll suffer due to the lack of octane ratings available in Bangladesh. Turbo charged vehicles require high octane ratings for many reasons. Also there aren't ANY tuners here in Bangladesh who can tune his car for him.

yeah that't right. you'll need a dynometer and a good air-fuel ratio gauge to tune up the engine at the least, if you go for some serious mods. if you still want to have a hooked up engine it's best to get it ready made from japan or uae.

You dont necessarily need a dyno. You can also tune it on the roads with a good wideband O2 sensor (but its not that everyone can tune it). Air-fuel ratio gauge doesnot work. Thats why you need a wideband. Even if he does get everything from Japan hooked up, he'll need the octane ratings to run his car, which unfortunately we dont have in Bangladesh. All we get here is RON 90 (and only GOD knows what else gets mixed up on its way to the pumps). My advice would be to stay away from it.Just my 0.2 cents

I went to my local performance shop and they said they can hook me up wid a custom built supercharger (instead of a turbo)... they also suggested this Apexi air to fuel convertor, which is basically a piggy back computer to map the stock ecu. Its costs about tk15000... do u think its worth it?

With the apexi product, you can basically use it to only fine tune your ECU, nothing more.

Also remember you would need to modify tons of other things when you try and install this custom made supercharger. Its not an easy thing. Plus your supplier wouldnot know much about your current setup. Do they have this JDM vehicle in their country? Just my view, I may be incorrect.

Thanks for the info! Yeah i am re-thinking on the supercharger... coz they wont have my car to custom build it. So the supercharger is out.... regarding the Apexi air fuel ratio convertor, I have heard that people has had some good improvements on their accelerations with this piggy back computer thingy... the device looks kool though! haha...

You don't need the apexi unit. It'll be a waste of money.
