
Australian captain Ricky Ponting made his 30th Test hundred on Monday in the Durban Test match against South Africa.
The feat takes him to fifth place in the list of most Test hundreds behind Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Steve Waugh and Brian Lara.
Ponting has also become the second player after Gavaskar to make a 100 in each innings of a Test three times. The last occasion was his 100th Test match.While Gavaskar first achieved the feat in 1970-71 and did so for the third time in 1978-79, all of Ponting's twin century matches have come this season.
The Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting surpassed the great Don Bradman to boost his team's push for victory in the second test against South Africa.He now has 30 test centuries to his credit, one more than Bradman.
The Proteas who have been set a target of 410, were 29 for no wicket at close when bad light ended play after tea on the fourth day.
Australia had declared their second innings on 307 for four after Ponting added 116 to the 103 he made in the first innings.
