you can do the conversion yourself. its easy to put in a turbo kit, but its very very difficult to tune it right because the fuel here is really bad. plus we dont have any tuners nor dynos which makes it more difficult.

is 1g-fe a high compression engine?

pm wrx, who is the boss of turbo. maybe he can help you.

my car engine is the new model 1G-FE with VVT-i pushing 165hp@6200rpm and 10:1 compression ratio.

i am aware of the tuning problem, hence this thread.... maybe some1 knows a workaround for it!

the octain is rated at 93-95 ron in dhaka, so for 93-95 ron octain, you cannot have any form of force induction without having tuned by a qualified tuner. this is because the car is running a very high compression ratio of 10:1. you will need to reduce the compression ratio by means of a low compression piston kit or a thicker head gasket.

even under normal operating condition, 95 ron fuel is enough to cause mild pinging.

you spent more then a year day dreaming about it? a friend of mine got the twin turbo chaser tourer V engine/ecu/breaking system/gearbox/manifold/exhaust system (the complete package) for his chaser a month ago without doing any research (he did talk to some very good mechanics) the engine is already being fitted. so stop day dreaming and get real... *no offence bro*

no offence taken bro, your friend seems very resourceful coz its very hard to find dat engine in Japan. Last year, I found one suitable engine from a 2003 model mark2/chaser thru my contacts in Japan but the price was too high, hence had to drop the idea. But i was thinking of an idea to add turbos to my existing engine - hence this thread...

Didn't spend a year day dreaming bro, i only come to Dhaka in summer for abt 2 months every year, das when I spend time behind my mark2. hope dat clears up all confusions....

You did mention your friend spoke to some "very good mechanics". give me their contacts, I want to speak 2 them too. couldn't find any1 in Dhaka with enough knowledge to put dat 1JZ engine in the GX100 chasis. i am sure your contacts would be good. awaiting ur help samar...

Simpley yes you can do it. VERY small size turbo say like a CT12a from a 1JZ.

have a custom menifold made. and then having running no more then 7psi. get a electronic Boost controller and have it cut out at 7 psi. make sure you have a nice FMIC to chill the air otherwise you will fry your pistons and O rings.

10:1 compressions isnt to bad, you might be able to run even up to 9psi of positive charge.

91+ octane is good enough for turbo cars but more the octane rate the better it is.

wow, thanks for the info lexus bro. i will look into it. i heard navana guys can (almost) tune the engine after adding turbos. i will definitely look into the CT12a turbo from 1JZ-GTE engine. No sure how to modify the manifold, I'll speak wid Navana guys about it.

So I need -

1. Turbo
2. Electronic Boost Controller
3. Intercooler

Wat else do I need? How much HP would a CT12a turbo add to the car?

few things to consider...

* fuel rail upgrade?
* a more efficient radiator?
* turbo = go faster = bigger brakes? :)
* turbo timer or you can just sit & idle it for 5 minutes before shutting down the engine.
* new EMS maybe needed. you'll be able to find custom mappings based on your engine.
* BOV & Wastegate maybe?

you would also need to replace your existing exhaust manifold to house the turbo. Plus turbo cars require straight through exhaust systems to reduce back pressure in the pipes. Since yours is a N/A engine to start with this, it may not be the best setup for good HP gains.
