Zoheb, those figures are extremely optimistic to say the least. I have a Road & Track magazine article which tested the Lingenfelter Corvette 725 bhp Twin Turbo Commemorative version. This was a test of several tuned cars - 2 Ruf turbo's, tuned Audi TT, Mustang, Saleen TT, even Lola Champ Car, etc. The figures they got for the 725 bhp version was : 0-60 mph = 3.9 sec, 0-100 mph = 7.3 sec, 400m = 11.6@136 mph. Is it conceivable that by adding just another 77 bhp (10% bhp increase) will see 0-60 mph and 0-100 mph come down to HALF of that !? Such figures can be accepted if they are validated by a respectable magazine with all details of the test given. If not, I think we should all consider this as only hot air based on the INDEPENDENT EVIDENCE at hand.

I remember reading in the supercars.net forum a long time ago, that some Lingenfelter Corvette did 0-60 in 1.97 secs and 1/4 mile in 9.2 seconds or something. and it was tested by Motor Trend magazine against a fighter jet. i guess it was the same 427 TT that i posted here.....but I can't seem to find the link to this car in supercars.net. i saw it there few years ago, but now it doesn't exist there anymore. but try searching the forums, u might get some topic abt it. so comparing the above mentioned numbers to the Motor Trend numbers, it seems possible to me.

Hellz yeah! just found the video of Motor Trend Television, where they compare the 2002 Lingenfelter 427TT Corvette against an F-18.........and they clearly say the 0-60mph time is in 1.97 secs and 1/4 mile in 9.24 secs........and the car is street legal. Hellz yeah! Now beat that time with a street legal production car.

Zoheb, I watched the video. You were right, that Lingenfelter Corvette did do 0-60 mph in 2 secs and ran a 1/4 mile in 9.24 sec. But, a few points now need to be clarified.
1. On the video they say the car makes 804 bhp AT THE TYRES. That means about 1000 bhp on the flywheel, which is about the same as the Veyron and a lot more than most other supercars. Also, a lot more than the Commemorative version tested by R&T that made 725 bhp at the flywheel.
2. Did you notice the tyres that were on the car ? High performance cars all have large wheels and ultra-low profile tyres for good handling, but the wheels on this car were small and the tyres were fat and high with no treads. That is, these were Drag Racing Slicks - not road legal!
These tyres gave the car phenomenal traction off the line, just imagine the amount of wheelspin street tyres would have generated on a car with 804 bhp suddenly dumped onto the 2 rear wheels. Did you also notice the strangely narrow front tyres - again this shows the drag race bias of this car. This was certainly a great media opportunity for Lingenfelter who was fully prepared for this show.
3. The Veyron was tested by Autocar recently for their 0-100-0 mph mega test (28/6/2006). In that test the Veyron hit 60 mph in 2.8 secs.
Bugatti complained that the track surface was very poor, the official figure on a good surface with STREET LEGAL tyres is 2.46 sec.
Since I have the hard copy of the article, I can tell you from the pictures that the test venue was a WW2 airfield, that had a concrete surface, with large cracks evident. In contrast, from the MT video you can see that the track surface for the Corvette looked like very grippy asphalt, which again would give another advantage to the Corvette.
3. Now, take the Corvette to the old concrete airfield and put street tyres on. I can bet you'd get massive wheelspin in the first 3 gears, just like R&T got with the 725 bhp version, but even more so. I would also bet that the Veyron would destroy the Corvette here and on any surface, because of the fact that the Veyron has the most sophisticated 4wd chassis yet created.
4. The MT video used sensational headlines : 0-60@1.97 sec, street-legal car vs. F-18 hornet, and were economical with the truth, they mention street legal car - but don't mention street-illegal tyres : this was deliberate to shock and entertain the masses. Can you blame them? Today, TV is alll about viewer ratings - the more sensational the better. For keen enthusiasts however, what we really need to see is Veyron vs. Lingenfelter vs. Hennessey Viper Venom, vs. 1000 bhp Saleen TT, under the same conditions for a fair fight, preferably as a magazine spread with detailed data (so the chance of bias is minimised) and the tester's insights, .
5. Talking of other super-fast street legal cars - let me mention just one. In the UK, Andy Forrest's Impreza officially ran a 9.196@158.55 mph quarter mile at York Raceway.
This car is street legal and, as you can see, is even quicker than the Lingenfelter on the video.
BTW, this Lingenfelter is not a series production car, so in that sense it is not a direct competitor to the production supercars. Besides the above Impreza, there are countless other modified street-legal massive horsepower monsters out there - Skylines, Supra's, Vipers, Evo's, etc. which would be a more relevant comparison to the Lingenfelter.

wrx, u always come with some good points.........i get what u r saying. the 427 TT might not be as fast as it seems in the video, but still, think abt the price difference between the 427TT and other supercars........in that case, this car is a great deal. infact it costs 9-10 times less than the mighty Veyron.....but then again, if someone can afford, then he/she will always prefer the Veyron over the 427TT.
and about Andy Forrest's Impreza, u sure it did on street legal tires? cause I've seen some pics of that car, and it seems to have the drag tires. and can it go more than 210 mph?
and about the modified car comparison....Lingenfelter is like an authorized tuner for Vettes, specifically; just like the Hennessey for Vipers, and Brabus, Renntech etc etc for Mercedez. but the superfast modified Supras, Skylines and other cars are not tuned in that way. I mean Hennesseys and Lingenfelters have a retail price/ MSRP.........but the modified Supras and Skylines don't. they are tuned by their owners. so there is a difference between these cars. thats why Hennesseys and Lingenfelters are compared with other supercars, by the Car Magazines, but the modified Skylines and Supras are not compared with them.

Zoheb : No, Andy Forrest's Impreza did use drag slicks for that run, with street tyres it ran 10 sec 1/4. I get your point about the dollar value, but they are still tuned cars for which reason the major magazines do not look at them in the same light as they would the production supercars. Anyway, you are right about the price difference - but what about driveability ?
The TVR speed 12 made 600 bhp in the race versions, but they did make a road-legal version at 800 bhp (rear-wheel drive and no T/C). At a motor show a journalist asked the then TVR boss - Peter Wheeler, whether it could really be driven on the public road. To which, he famously replied : "Well, we've tried, and we couldn't."
