very mucha concept. wont be out until 2009 with the new 7 series. In the meantime to compete with the GL class the new X5 is offering its two rear dawrf seats lol......i say steer clear from the new x5 cause its not really new...

no that cxar will not come out.In the past the idea of a X7 never reached production line because it would have challenged the Range Rover in the beginning of the years 2000.But in the near future the model would be useless because nobody is expecting BMW to make a big SUV with specs of a GL.remember BMW has not the same name than Mercedes-Benz or Land Rover in the world of Offroader

But then the X5 killed the ML in terms of technical ability and sales everywhere. Its only a matter of time when BMW will make a competitor to the RR/GL. When BMW made the RR they got all the suspension know hows that makes the RR numero uno.

Arnab I don't think that the new X5 will kill the Ml why? Because the ML has got offroading abilities that the X5 didn't get , like the height ajustable suspension till 30 cm , low range system. The X5 is more to be driven on road than offroad. The X5 new gen shareshassis with the 5 series so the X5 is more like a big X5 than a real offroad. But the X5 drives well. The ML is very well made , cabin material is high , assembly is much better. The ML shares chassis with the R and GL Class.

I dont know how the new ML and the new X5 would fare, but having driven the ML, I know for a fact that the X5 is better in every way, that includes the build quality. I'm saying this because I drove both of them back to back.

i say the distance between the old x5 an the old ML was larger. Old X5 was much much better than old gen ML but now I think the ML is catching up. Also new X5 will surely have a M version to compete with the ML 63.

I hope so to snkpkp, I want to see the V10 put into the sports X5. There should be some major powertrain change on the sports X5, I mean the difference in power of he 4.4 to a 4.6 is noticiable but not that much. Much of the difference comes from shift speed, suspension, braking. But with a V10 it would be miles apart.

new 4.4 320ps is almost same as the old 4.6 engine but the 4.8 is a lot different from both 4.4 and 4.6. Yes BMW needs a ML63 competitor but they also need to justify the market for it. Primary market for the X5 is yappie metropoliton and subarbun wives and thier husbands always drives either a e65 or and e60. And when these men need more power they choose the M5 or M6 or even B7 or B5 etc, rarely they opt for the X5. So we have to see if the men in that market will really go for it or not. I mean if a X5 M starts to be priced nearly as a Cayenne Turbo then hey I aint buyin no South Carolina made suv for that much of money.......for some reason Mercedes Always gets away with the higher pricing because of their badge....lets wait and watch ....!!!

no doubt about it...... actually Germans and Japanese manufacturers has proved that even in US their cars are as good as they are or better in their home land.
