Volvo currently has a 2003 S40 in their stock and the asking price is 39 lacs.

Thanks - So the new-shape S40 (2005+) will probably be around 45 lakhs+ from the showroom- does this sound right?
Whats the best-selling Volvo at the moment in Dhaka? I would have assumed it is the new shape S40 - I may be wrong.
Thanks

Volvo didn't import any cars after 2003 and they don't have the price of the new shape. I'll get a quote for the new shape tomorrow.

Thanks - I appreciate it. I hope this is not a silly question; but why are they not importing anything since 2003? I thought the Volvo brand would do very well in Bangladesh.
Also, is it true that you can't import any reconditioned cars apart from small cars (less than 1649cc) from India or Japan.
Many thanks

I really can't tell you why they stopped importing but hopefully they will get some new models mid of this year.
Highlights from the import/tax policy is given on the thread below:

Thanks - if you do find out the price of a brand new Volvo S40 - I'd appreciate it.
Also if there is anything in the import policy regarding 'country of origin' - I'd be interested to know.
Cheers

'country of origin' is needed for recondition vehicles.

I must say, the only people who benefit from this policy are the new car dealerships - they have the market fixed up really well. Lets hope the next government changes all these rules.
