I don think the old airpot is totally controlled. When i was a kid(class 4 or 5) I used to learn driving there towards the sheorapara end in the night. At those times sometimes the gates were kept open at the end. I dunno what happens now there.

the air strip in the airport is usually never used since the c-130s r presently not flying there, the helicopters use the pads n not the runway, only sumtimes the army aviation uses the runway but if ny1 has a political hand in bd then i guess it will be possible fr us to our cars out there.

See, the thing is, I really want to make a race track in Dhaka, not because I love all of you and want you all to race and have fun, but I see it as being profitable. So..let's look at it this way, as a survery..how much are you actually willing to put out, for one day of track time? Do you think any cars should be allowed or cars with full time coverage (insurance) because if there is an accident, some one needs to pay for the damage. And drivers, do you think any one should be allowed to drive (your retarded 17 year old cousin and his toyota vista for example) or people with actual/real driver's liscence. How much security would you guys want? How far are you willing to drive out to from Dhaka? 2 hours? 3 hours?
It is not the price of land that I am worried about, it is more of the price of paving the road. Some one told me that to pave a 1km road, it takes 1koti taka. Keep in mind that this is from a relible source.
And then there are offcourse the wannabe 18 year old gangsters who will try to ruin it for us..what of them? Realisticly speaking, it would take me about 1-2 years max to make something like this happen on my current salary.
At the end, it all depends on how much people are willing to pay. An attractive price but yet that will help me/partners break even.

a real good post, the way i look at it, you want to finance the whole project yourself, then you need to eal with a lot of issues:
1. you need to know the cost of it all, just a price per km or road is not enough, you need the supporting infrastructure also
2. based on that you have to come up with a total cost and then calculate a return on investment, technically what a bank looks for. 10 yrs in dubai. so total cost div by 10 would technically be what you should be sharging the least to break even. well that and the overheads for a year would be your cost.
i would suggest you go into co-ownership with a developper. then the cost would be divided and also you can take care of the management.
If you ask us how much we are ready to spend then how can i say anything that would be a right answer. In Dubai I would have to pay Tk 11,200 for 20 laps. But then the track is F1 spec so it's a costly track which includes all support systems. if we go for a go-cart track made suitable for cars then the costs would be less.
Realistically 2500-5000 tks for a whole day per car, any damage would be born by the drivers, you may want them to sign a waiver where you are not liable for anything.

yup we really need some enthusiam, which we have already. anyways imagine if dtd has a big banner, that would boost the site up, i mean think about the marketing ads, and rez wouldnt have to pay for hosting, we might even get a dedicated server.
