Devastation at Bibyani Gas Field

The following pictures are of the recent gas field disaster in Bangladesh.Over 40Lacs Taka worth of gas are been wasted every day from late jan 2005 and are people yet to figure out how to contain the situation.

These pictures were taken by a friend of mine. A professional photograhper from england, Jiri Rezac( www.jirirezac.com ) and are NOT to be republished in any shape or form without his consent.

Sheer incompetence that’s how it happened. They're supposed to strengthen the drill hole with concrete as they drill through the ground. Niko stopped strengthening the drill wall after 300 meters and went up to 800 meters without any sort of measures from preventing the drill hole from collapsing. And, that’s what created this mess.

sad......completely sad. i don't get why don't they just get experienced ppl to do such risky jobs.....
