I just installed my exhaust system in my mark II today, but the funny thing is that it still sound like stock with the racing muffler that I brought from London. The guys who installed it in Dhaka said that its coz there iz another box between the engine and the exhaust muffler. The deep exhaust sound will come when that box is removed. I am assuming that this "box" that they are referring to is the cat convertor (correct me if I am wrong). Does any1 know the pros and cons of removing it & will it affect the fuel economy? Any help is much appreciated...

Different aftermarket exhausts generate different db. Also why do you want your exhaust to sound loud. Its a sedan. Loud DOESNOT mean better performance. How loud is it at higher RPM? Your exhaust shop doesnot know about cars, otherwise they wouldnot have adviced to take the CAT off. Don't do that. Is the muffler you purchased specific to your car or is it universal?? What kind of muffler?? Because if its not specific to your car it will hamper your performance.

The muffler sounds exactly like stock at high RPM. It does make a very slight roar at the 2000 to 3000 RPM range... The muffler is a universal model, not specific 2 my car... The muffler is from an aftermarket performance shop in london, I dont have the brand name... It has an electric motor that regulates the air flow in the exhaust to make different tones of sound. The problem is that my car sounds EXACTLY the same ALL THE TIME...

The car's performance seems to have gone up in the higher RPM range and reduced performance at the lower RPMS... I think I also lost some torque.... in that case any suggestions? Should I put the stock muffler back on?

That thing isn't matching your car. Take it off and put your stock exhaust on.

I got those purple neons from London... they are unique and stands out of the crowd... to me blue is kinda common... anyway.. the HKS exhaust put me back abt tk16000....
