I saw a report about him on BBC website. He would be of great practical help and also if we have a concrete plan going then we should inform the government for their support in this project.
I don't know if you guys remember but our P was apparently not happy that we still don't have a national car and so she was presurring Progati and Atlas to come up with some sort of preliminary design for a car.
Those companies won't do anything, so if we can get a favourable response from the PM then we might be able to receive political and financial support.

Nice news that the PM wants the nation to get a national car.
I have got an idea : buy 2 chassis a EE 90 and a newer one.The first price target around 4 or 5 lakhs and the other one more advanced around 12 lakhs .Both cars would get a modern design , emotionnal design , the 1.3 l Toyota is a good idea for the first car. The second could get a 1.5 VVTI .Anyway we REALLY NEED A NATIONAL CAR THERE IS NO DOUBT.
THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD DO SOMETHING BY INVESTING MONEY and ASKING BIG CORP LIKE BASHUNDARA TO DO SAME.We NEED ALSO NBR INVESTORS.

We can't rely on Bashundara etc because they only want t build up their bak accounts. We have to ask from help from patriotic NBR's, government, multi-national (japanese, korean, malay) investors and development agencies such as SIDA etc.
We eed to build cars, trucks, buses, and light commercial vehicles. My ultimate aim is to kick out Tata and Indian companies from Bangladesh because they are not giving a fair deal to Bangladesh economically, politically etc.
We need to make a strong stance on this issue. Other factor is that I think some of the profits should go into national development programs such as building schools, automotive workships and polytechnical institutes to train normal kids and school leavers with technical skills that will ultimately help the nation and ofcourse us.
The ca company should also be independent of politics and self interest. We have to put our nation first for once in our life.

That is whast I feared most. I think at first we have to maintain a strategic path until we are powerful enough to dictate the terms.
Publicly if we can win the hearts and minds of our nations people a lot of foreign companies will loose out because the middle class men & women share our dreams too. If a man in India can own a Indian made car, why can't a Bangladeshi man own one of his deshi prides?
Members who are interested in this, I suggest you get in touch with local car dealers and assemblers and find out about technical details, if they can help us produce this car and market it locally etc.
If I was in Bangladesh I would have done this. :blue_wink:

Bdmilitary, the idea is good, but in Bangldesh you need political support, ytou need the govt. Thats how it works. In terms of planning, we should not think big at the moment like selling cars at 12 lakhs. trust me we are not looking after the general public. lets gets the basics, which is proven. 4 lakhs brand new car, with service networks all over, easy financing from the bank is the key.

the idea is great...we would win hearts but we also need a viable business. an ideal car, being cost effective should be a proven old technoly in a new skin.

now this isa Punto, which is VW's smaller cars, not as I said the body can be moulded on top of the chassis, the chassis on the other hand could be lenghtened or shortened to fit this body. I think this is an ideal design and size, in 2 and 4 door formats.
This concept, with great/excellent service centers and lucrative finance packages from banks would be the key to a sell.
