1970 Dodge Challenger Limited Edition by Foose and Unique Performance

Mopar Madness: A Handful of HEMI-Powered American Supercars

A new line of limited edition supercars based on the 1970 HEMI Challenger from Unique Performance and Foose Design will stoke the imaginations of MOPAR fans worldwide. The two companies will turn a limited number of the Dodges into world-class performance machines with ultra-cool design and 21st century speed technology including parts from Georgia based Year One. The prototype will be completed by the end of June and production will begin in July. Unique Performance is the premier manufacturer of signature series American muscle cars, trucks and motorcycles.

“The response to our Foose ’69 Camaro was fantastic, which led to an outpouring of requests for a similar car from MOPAR fans,” said Unique Performance President and CEO Douglas Hasty. “Our 1970 Challenger program is designed to fulfill those wishes with a very, very small run of an even more exclusive MOPAR. Working with Chip and Year One, our team will turn a handful of these vintage muscle cars into pink slip winning, Z06 eating supercars.”

The team will transform 1970 and 1971 Challengers with contemporary wheels, engines, suspensions, transmissions and interiors. Each Foose Challenger will be clad in DuPont’s Hot Hues™ custom finish and have a sleek custom interior. Either a 347 c.i.d. HEMI small block or a 426 c.i.d HEMI big block can be mated to the TKO 5-speed transmission. The car will feature a Unique Performance Parts rear suspension, 4-wheel disc Wilwood Brakes, Foose 18” wheels and BFGoodrich tires. Styling cues include Foose emblems, a custom front grill, shaved bumpers and custom hood. Each car will have a unique serial number for documentation purposes.

“I’ve always loved the lines of the ’70 Challenger,” stated Chip Foose. “It may be the quintessential American muscle car from that period. We’re adding contemporary speed gear and updating the Challenger’s style to redefine the vintage car as the ultimate limited edition MOPAR.”

Award-winning Chip Foose penned the Foose Challenger. He is the creative head and driving force behind the respected automotive and product development company Foose Design. Headquartered in Huntington Beach, Calif., it specializes in illustration, graphics, ideation model making, surfacing and complete construction of automobiles and automobile-related products.

“Nobody does it better than Unique Performance and Chip Foose,” added Hasty. “Every car is a piece of art that is equally at home on the track, street or a Concours. With sizzling design and supercar capabilities, the new HEMI powered Foose Challenger will rocket past the pretenders on the road. It’s the ‘bad to the bone’ MOPAR that fans have wanted for the last 35 years.”

Unique Performance evolved from a hot rod shop that began 20 years ago; it is now a premier limited volume auto production manufacturer. Unique Performance manufactures the Shelby G.T.500E and G.T.350SR continuation cars based on vintage Ford Mustangs, as well as the Foose ’69 Camaro. The company offers a line of Foose designed cars based on the current Ford Mustang in cooperation with Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide (Nasdaq: QTWW).

1969 Camaro by Unique Performance and Chip Foose

Updated style with performance to match

Unique Performance and Foose Design revealed their first joint venture, a line of 1969 Camaro street machines. The two companies have teamed to build limited edition super cars based on 1960’s era and current production vehicles with designs by Chip Foose. One of the Camaros, which was transformed into a world-class performance machine with stunning design and 21st century technology, will be given away a the 10th Annual Goodguys PPG Nationals in 2006.

“We’re very excited to launch the first car born from our new venture with Foose Design,” said Douglas Hasty, President and CEO of Unique Performance. “Working with Chip Foose, we’re turning one of the most popular muscle cars into a piece of performance art. This 1969 Camaro features an updated style that is simply stunning, with performance to match. Since only a few hundred will be built, they’ll be among the most exclusive cars in the world.”

The first Foose designed Camaro is a 1969 model clad in DuPont’s Hot Hues™ orange and pewter with a black interior. The car is as fast as it is sexy with a 572 c.i.d 620 HP all aluminum V8 mated to a TKO 5-speed. The Camaro features a Unique Performance Products rear suspension, 4-wheel Baer disc brakes and Foose 18” wheels and BFG G-force tires. Styling cues include Foose badge emblems inside and out, special graphics and custom bodywork.

“I wanted to create something truly special for our first car,” stated Chip Foose. “We choose the ‘69 Camaro because many believe it was the high mark for American muscle cars. To create a new, fresh look, I added styling cues such as Jaguar door handles, a custom RS style front grill, custom hood and smooth bumpers. From the vivid graphics to the custom valance, there is nothing on the road like it.”

The concept for this exciting program began because Foose had been bombarded with requests to recreate the stunning one-off vehicles he builds. The venture allows him to create new designs that Unique Performance can build with expertise from one of its development partners, Year One.

The team will initially rescue vintage vehicles and install the latest wheels, engines, suspensions, transmissions and interiors, found in contemporary luxury performance cars. Each car will have a serial number for documentation purposes.
“The first vehicles to be updated will be 1960s era vintage vehicles,” explained Hasty. “They will become world-class muscle cars with the performance to match their stunning new bodywork. The people that attend the Goodguys Nationals understand the value and rarity of quality craftsmanship, which is why we chose to give one away as part of their program in 2006.”

The 1969 Camaro’s will be clad in Hot Hues custom finishes with a black interior. Each will have a Unique Performance Parts rear suspension, 4-wheel disc Baer Brakes, Quaker State fluids and Foose wheels and BFG tires. Options will include various colors, a variety of sound systems and the choice of a 350 HP Chevrolet LS2, supercharged ZZ4 engine or 572 c.i.d aluminum big block V8.

I love muscle cars..........but only on straight lines and to show off with the massive engine sound. On curves, I'd definitely stick to Japanese and European cars. but nonetheless, those are some great looking cars........and not to mention, they are powerful. :imgoingtoeatyou:
