This is the most extreme version yet of the current Subaru Impreza. Called the S203, it's based on the WRX STi and features a raft of mechanical and cosmetic modifications. Externally, it's set apart from lesser models with a new rear wing, a front lip spoiler and BBS alloys. But it's the work carried out under the skin that will set pulses racing.
Engineers have fitted a larger turbo, a specially developed titanium exhaust and a retuned ECU alongside a host of other upgrades. The result is a 320bhp power output and 422Nm of torque.
Extensive chassis modifications and specially developed tyres are claimed to improve handling, and sources close to the project have hinted at a 0-60mph sprint time of less than 4.5 seconds.
The only changes inside come with the addition of two fully reclining Recaro seats. The S203 will go on sale in Japanese showrooms next week, with a production run of only 555 examples and a price tag equivalent to £23,000. A handful of cars are likely to come to the UK through independent importers.
