Spyker cars qre now sold in Thailand

Post by Abdul »

Van Gogh's SUPERCAR
Packing Audi power, Spyker is asking for the same moolah as a top-end Ferrari or Lamborghini - minus the image of the fancy Italians

MOTORING

- What in the world is this?

Retro-looking interior is one selling point.

This is a Spyker, a Dutch-made exotic that made a splash at Siam Paragon last Friday through newly-appointed agent SP International Automobile run by a member of the Leenuthapong family which has interests in the Yontrakit Group.

- And what is Spyker?

Spyker has a history of making aeroplanes, explaining the propeller on its badge. Models like the C8 Laviolette, Spyder and Double 12S are distinctively styled with retro-looking cabins.

- And what's under the bonnet?

Exotics sold in small volume usually have to buy from bigger players. This time, Spyker sources its engine from Audi: 420hp, 480Nm 4.2-litre V8 petrol engine capable of cracking the 0-100kph time in 3.5sec and reaching top speeds in excess of 300kph. Their prices range from B28.5-37m.

- What!? At prices of a Ferrari or Lambo?

Yeah, that's the pricing strategy of the Dutch - in the vicinity of the Lamborghini Murcie'lago and Ferrari 599 GTB, both coming with 500hp-plus V12 engines.

- Give me a good reason to buy a Spyker...

To be honest, we can't think of one except for exclusivity. However, Spyker is working on image-building by taking part in motorsports like GT Racing - the 12-hour Sebring and 24-hour Le Mans series. Just recently, Spyker acquired Midland F1 Racing and you should see their logo during next year's F1 season.

- That's quite ambitious...

It's quite necessary for creating global brand awareness. As you raised the question before, there needs to be a good reason for a potential buyer to go Dutch rather than Italian.

- Still, I'm going Italian...

Suit yourself.

why even compare a spyker to Bugatti Veyron? :blue_rolleyes: Spykers are half as powerful as Veyrons.........so they are suppose to be cheaper than Veyrons.

yes indeed but the common point is excellence in building quality, they both use first class materials , both sound so well , the spyker hasn't got any electrnic devices for driving , it is really man to machine
