Dhaka questions from a US resident

These questions have been carried over from the "car meet" thread... I am in Dhaka right now, and had a few questions:

2. I called a car rental place that charges Tk 35,000 per month for a car with driver and gas. That's about $500 per month! Is there anything that's half the price or less?

3. What is the typical mileage of a Toyota TownAce Noah from Uttara to Gulshan and back, on a daily basis? How much can I expect to pay for CNG refills on these daily trips?

Well, the Noah that we have been using seems to cost about Tk100 per CNG refill.... but the driver claims that the entire tank is used up from a long trip through Dhaka City (from Uttara to Old Dhaka and back, with some other inner city trips during the day between Birdem and Boshundhora City)

Does this sound right? Or should I expect one CNG tank to last a couple of days?

well...i think the driver is giving bluff.. my opinion is that the cng tank should last more than a day according to your trip.... saying that using my common sense.. not sure though....

Well shahedC, how big is your tank? Our Noah consumes around 100 to 110TK worth of CNG everyday, and thats just by roaming around Gulshan, Banani and Tejgaon.

your driver is not really wrong. travelling from uttara to gulshan to old dhaka,and some small trips,should be enough to finish your tank.however,i dont think you would need to refill more than once a day. And,No a single refill cannot keep your car running for a couple of days,unless its a small trip everyday.
