You look outside the window, 10 beggers are askign you for money. You probably give them some, or don't. But how does it feel to sit in the car that costs so much, and so many people right next to you are basically straving.
How do people even eat a $400 burger and come out to see some beggers asking for 2 tk or something.

$400 burger?? where in earth will u get a burger for $400? and who is gonna buy it? lolz
i dont understand the mentality behind people like abacab.,.. if you feel so much for your country why the f**k are u in the US and not here in Dhaka trying to help out the poor... atleast the ppl who'r riding bmw 7s and the like are probably running successful businesses/factories that employ a lotta ppl and bring in foreign currency.. unlike expats like u who seem to enjoy livin abroad... so id say stop complaining and appreciate the cars on the road here...

I don't know if I'd feel the guilt if I was that rich and enjoying life. Probably not.
I probably have a better chance to help out from US, cause I can probably improve more.
And don't tell me these guys are doing a lot.
You're businessman, do you pay back your loan. Do you even pay the taxes properly.
You're in politics, no comments.
You work for the Govt., how did you even afford a car like this.
Talking about successful business, so you emply people for 2000 tk per month (guessing), making them work 12 hrs shift. And when there is a fire in the factory, they can't even get out.
If these great businessmen were not so greedy, they would not infect the whole politician and govt emplyee class.
And how can I even expect to make a change when for 1 of me, 20 of you are munching in a 300tk burger and calling bullshit overtaking some great racing manouever.
Heck go help out Anjuman Mofidul Islam or something. I try to do my fair share here.

so is dubai

every city has rich and poor, thats the basic economic theory "unequal distribution of reasources". we can't help it.

i do our part, have some people from bangladesh working at my dad's factories in dubai. salaries paid on time, accomodation, and yearly ticket to bangladesh. we can help all of them, at least make sure that by paying them on time, their families in bangladesh would be able to educate their children, who in tur would take care of them when they get old. its a cycle.. do your part positive for the country even if you dont live there. the satsfaction and the douas it brings you, is more than enough. i thank god everyday that i am in a position to help others.

just my views

And what can we do if we feel good livin in our country? There are always rich people's in every country some are gud some are bad. And yes we do work hard to make our life better.

Sorry about kind off getting off on it. Its a century old thing and everyone knows about it. And it'll never be equal. Today I might ramble about oh help out others, I'm sure I'll be in an expensive car showroom after 20 yrs. I don't use slangs unless for fun, so I guess that'd be the wrong path.

But what disgusts me is how these 'rich' (not all may be) people in Bangladesh make their money. Sometimes I just wonder if they feel anything with the situation I described in the first post. Its not that other countries don't have poor people, but the 90-10 ratio is inverted in Bangladesh. And I don't know if it was for my age, I never really cared about it when I was in BD. I'm kind of freaking out about going to Bangladesh cause I might just face something like this. Or maay be not, I'll get used to it.
Ha ha, college midlife crisis, everything is problematic and depressing. Should be joining a communist party.

Regarding the issue of immoral income being used to finance luxurious lifestyles, I think its an individual issue. In society we must condemn it. But, at the end of the day, i like to think the guilty person will get his just dessert either in this life or the next.

We should not, however, generalize and assume that every rich businessman in Bangladesh has immoral income. Not everyone is abusing their staff. On the other hand, I have heard of people here who owe the banks hundreds of crores, yet dish out lakhs of Taka to the poor on Fridays - what a paradox ! They probably think they are Robin Hood - stealing from the rich bank owners and giving the money to the poor ??

Anyway, its true about a lot of the politicians (including politico-business people), who (across all the parties) fool the gullible public and are involved in all sorts of graft and corruption. God gave them the gift of the gab, they brainwash the public with emotional speeches and their oratory skills, then betray the causes they espoused. I guess the saying - power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely is very apt, the problem in Bangladesh is that there is hardly any justice for the poor and general people. Our leaders always get away with what they do (by abusing their power and bending the law) and that encourages them to continue what they are doing.
